During the lockdown of 2020 I began working on a project to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American Independence with Carolina Stories of the American Revolution. It has been a massive undertaking trying to squeeze in time to research, write and work on this project. Hopefully, these stories will help you discover many of the untold stories of the Carolinas and their role in the American Revolution between 1775-1781. Georgia and Florida had roles as well and I hope to dive into those stories as well.
If you're not familiar with me. I'm a multidisciplinary writer, musician, and cultural commentator whose work integrates historical research, theological reflection, and the arts. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Appalachian State University and have over three decades of experience in media, performance, and public engagement.
I'm a native of Concord, North Carolina, and currently residing in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Reese. I'm also an accomplished musician, singer-songwriter whose music spans Americana, country, folk, pop, and rock.
Alongside my musical career, I am a committed student of American history and Christian worldview formation. Drawing on my own ancestry—I'm a descendant of many Revolutionary War patriots and also loyalists as well, even a German Hessian soldier who fought for the British against America. Most notable I am the sixth Great Grandson of South Carolina Militia Officer Lt. Colonel James Steen, who helped secure the American victory.
My research and writing often explore the moral and spiritual foundations of the American experiment, with particular attention to the influence of Christianity on public life, human dignity, and national identity.
Through my creative and scholarly pursuits, I seek to inform and engage contemporary audiences with the enduring questions of faith, culture, and character in an age of fragmentation and forgetting.
Thanks for reading-Dallas Reese
